A Pilgrimage to Scotland's Most Legendary Distilleries — Where Whisky Was Born, Perfected, and Celebrated

For the true whisky lover, this is the ultimate day out. Journey deep into Perthshire and the Kingdom of Fife on this exclusive luxury whisky pilgrimage — visiting three of Scotland’s most historically significant and personally cherished distilleries. This is not a tour of the most commercially obvious names. This is a carefully curated journey to the distilleries that tell the full story of Scotch whisky — from its earliest recorded origins in a medieval abbey to the rolling Perthshire hills where it is crafted to this day with extraordinary care and tradition.

Travel in comfort aboard our new Mercedes V-Class Avantgarde, guided by Johnny Dreczkowski MBE — honoured by His Majesty The King in June 2025 — a proud Scot, whisky enthusiast, and professional driver-guide dedicated to creating refined, memorable experiences across Scotland.

Together, these three remarkable producers hold the titles of Scotland’s original distillery, its longest continually producing distillery, and its most southerly Highland distillery — a trio of records that tells a story spanning over five centuries of liquid gold.

Tour Highlights

🏰 Lindores Abbey Distillery – The Spiritual Home of Scotch Whisky

Your pilgrimage begins at the most historically significant distillery in the world — Lindores Abbey in the Kingdom of Fife, where the story of Scotch whisky was first written. In 1494, King James IV commissioned the monks of Lindores Abbey to produce ‘aqua vitae’ — the water of life — from eight bolls of malt. The resulting entry in the royal Exchequer Rolls is the earliest recorded reference to Scotch whisky in existence. After a remarkable 523-year hiatus, Lindores Abbey Distillery was re-established on this sacred site in 2017, distilling once again in the shadow of the original 12th-century abbey ruins.

Enjoy a guided distillery tour and tasting, discovering how the monks’ ancient craft has been revived with modern precision and deep historical reverence. Linger afterwards over the celebrated charcuterie board in the distillery’s stunning visitor experience — a perfect pairing for your first drams of the day.

🥃 The Glenturret Distillery – Scotland’s Longest Continually Producing Distillery

Continue into the Perthshire hills to The Glenturret Distillery near Crieff — Scotland’s oldest working distillery, established in 1775 and a place of genuine pilgrimage for whisky lovers the world over. Nestled in a picturesque glen beside the Turret Burn, Glenturret is a postcard-perfect white-washed distillery where tradition is not merely preserved but actively celebrated. The distillery’s distinctively fruity, complex character comes from water drawn from Loch Turret and a uniquely hand-operated wooden rouser mash — a process unchanged for generations and virtually unmatched anywhere in Scotland.

Enjoy a guided tour and tasting, and discover why Glenturret has earned a devoted following among connoisseurs worldwide. An optional upgrade to the Lalique Experience is available — featuring exclusive limited editions and rare cask selections for the most dedicated enthusiasts.

🏔️ Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery – Scotland’s Most Southerly Highland Distillery

Your whisky journey reaches its Highland finale at Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery — the only Scotch whisky distillery ever built by the Dewar family, constructed in 1898 in the heart of Highland Perthshire. Founded on the legacy of John Dewar Sr., who opened his wine and spirits shop in Perth in 1846, Aberfeldy went on to produce the spirit at the heart of Dewar’s White Label — today one of the world’s best-selling blended Scotch whiskies, enjoyed in over 180 countries.

Set against a magnificent Highland backdrop on the banks of the River Tay, Aberfeldy combines a rich family history with an exceptional visitor experience — from immersive distillery tours to premium tastings that showcase both the single malt at its heart and the legendary blends that made Dewar’s a global icon.

🌄 Scenic Perthshire – The Journey Between the Drams

The drive between distilleries is as much a part of the experience as the tastings themselves. Travel through some of Perthshire’s most beautiful landscapes — rolling farmland, ancient woodland, glittering lochs, and the magnificent broad sweep of the River Tay valley — as Johnny shares the history, folklore, and whisky heritage of every stretch of road. This is Scotland at its most serene and quietly spectacular.

Depart from your accommodation in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Stirling and embark on a day of discovery, indulgence, and genuine whisky education. Clients are collected directly from their accommodation and returned at the end of the day, ensuring a seamless door-to-door experience. As you travel, Johnny shares his deep knowledge and genuine passion for Scotch whisky — the history, the craft, the characters, and the culture that has made it Scotland’s most celebrated gift to the world.
